One of the biggest advantages of coilover suspension is adjustability — giving you the ability to fine-tune your car’s stance and ride height. Whether you're running partially threaded or fully threaded coilovers, understanding how adjustments work is key to getting the most out of your setup.

At Stanced UK, our coilovers use a partially threaded design, which is perfect for daily drivers, modified street cars, and show builds that want lowering without overcomplicating things.

Let’s break down both systems so you know exactly how coilovers can be adjusted.

🔧 Partially Threaded Coilovers (Used by Stanced UK®)

These coilovers adjust ride height by moving the spring perch up or down along the threaded portion of the shock body.

✅ How to Adjust:

  1. Jack the car up and remove the wheels for access.

  2. Loosen collar B (lower locking ring) using a C-spanner — turn clockwise to unlock.

  3. Spin collar B downward by hand to free up collar A.

  4. Adjust collar A with the wrench:

    • Clockwise = Lower the car

    • Counter-clockwise = Raise the car

  5. Once height is set, spin collar B back up until it touches collar A.

  6. Lock both collars together by turning:

    • Collar A clockwise

    • Collar B counter-clockwise

This system allows quick, easy ride height changes with minimal tools — ideal for most road cars and street applications.

🔩 Fully Threaded Coilovers (Advanced Use)

Fully threaded coilovers allow independent adjustment of ride height and spring preload, typically found in more track-oriented kits.

✅ How to Adjust:

  1. Unlock collar C (at the base of the shock) by turning it counter-clockwise.

  2. Rotate the lower spindle mount up or down:

    • Up = Lower the car

    • Down = Raise the car

  3. Alternatively, if the lower mount is fixed, use collars A and B to move the spring perch (as with partially threaded setups).

  4. Once ride height is set, re-tighten collar C to lock everything in place.

⚠️ Important: Fully threaded systems are more complex and should only be adjusted with care. Incorrect preload or height settings can affect ride quality and handling balance.

Which Type Does Stanced UK Use?

All Official Stanced UK® coilover kits use a partially threaded design, which:

  • Simplifies the adjustment process

  • Keeps setup consistent and safe for daily driving

  • Offers full ride height adjustability while keeping preload consistent

This ensures that your ride height can be fine-tuned without impacting handling or spring tension.

Final Thoughts

Yes — you can absolutely adjust your coilovers, and it’s easier than you might think. Whether you want to raise the car for clearance or dial in a lower stance, the process is simple with the right tools and a little care.
